In Morocco, the name of 'bazaar' never applies to a contract, commonly called a souk. It refers to the places where products are sold luxury crafts carpets, leather poufs, brassware, etc.. In Zagora, these bazaars are frequented only by a tourists. One of the largest and most reputable are not located along the main street but in the adjacent streets. Indicated by signs or banners they are nevertheless quite difficult to find. This is why tourists rarely penetrate their own initiative. They are led by a guide. The owners of these bazaars are prestigious and influential families from wealthy native Zagora and its surroundings. The smaller shops are in the hands of former Haratin, black sharecroppers affected the culture of palm.
It is at the end of their hike that groups of tourists are guided in one of those big bazaars. Most are willing to make purchases - they already evoked the idea for hiking. Others were convinced by their guide, who took care to indicate that it was a mere discovery of local antiques for the 'viewing pleasure'.
If the seller claims to have enough carpet unfolded, he asks visitors to make a first selection. The maneuver is clever: all pride themselves in the game, even those who did not intend to buy, and if they do not know what they want, at least they are still able to reject that they do not like. Thus, a set of coins accumulates potentially desirable. When there are no more than ten, a second selection is needed. So the seller stimulates buyers to simulate an offer imaginary. The losers are those who kill their game Some just as cunning as the seller, feigning indifference to evade detection. Part is tricky: if the seller insists too much, they feel compelled to buy something against their will and they become aggressive. In return, the seller can then redouble arrogance and failing trade, come in conflict. However, the conflict does not preclude a final pact market. How many fights have ended by business transacted with warm handshakes? The game reaches its maximum intensity when there are more than three to four pieces. The seller pauses. He walks away, leaving tourists discuss their choices. Assumes a perfectly conducted upon his return they address themselves to the question of price, "How?".
